Head Lice: “When my daughter got head lice from another child at school I tried several over-the-counter products with no success and little, if any, improvement. I then tried an expensive prescription from the doctor with no success. After trying all these insecticide poisons on my child’s head, I remembered what my grandmother told me years before. Her mother scrubbed her head with homemade lye soap every Saturday night to get rid of lice. I scraped thin slivers of “Grandma’s Lye Soap” into a fourth cup of hot water and let it dissolve for 30 minutes. I then applied this thick paste to the scalp and hair. It needs to stay on the scalp and hair for at least 15 minutes. Rinse with vinegar and water solution (4 oz. vinegar to 16 oz. water). The results were amazing! No more lice.
