Head Lice: “When my daughter got head lice from another child at school I tried several over-the-counter products with no success and little, if any, improvement. I then tried an expensive prescription from the doctor with no success. After trying all these insecticide poisons on my child’s head, I remembered what my grandmother told me years before. Her mother scrubbed her head with homemade lye soap every Saturday night to get rid of lice. I scraped thin slivers of “Grandma’s Lye Soap” into a fourth cup of hot water and let it dissolve for 30 minutes. I then applied this thick paste to the scalp and hair.
